For mission team coordinators
One cohort.
A shared preparation rhythm.
Give volunteers a clear language practice starting point, then keep the clinical orientation and language-access plan with the people responsible for them.
A simple predeparture plan
Start with your
next orthopedic team.
Choose a departure window. Invite each volunteer to make their own preparation plan. Use a short weekly check-in to rehearse introductions, clarification, and the conversations your host team wants volunteers to practice.

Ask the host team first
Confirm the languages, preferred terminology, interpreter arrangements, and the volunteer roles that need practice.
Give everyone a starting point
Choose the appropriate physician, nursing, PT, reception, or logistics course. Give transport and supply coordinators their own practice path.
Practice together weekly
Spend a few minutes on a fictional conversation. Ask what was unclear and choose one thing to revisit before departure.
Every role belongs
You’ve built your team.
Give them the words for the trip.
The surgeon. The nurse. The therapist. The person arranging the buses and getting the supplies there. Each needs a different conversation to practice.
